Pulmonary Rehabilitation

Pulmonary rehabilitation is designed to minimize impact from lung disease and promote a healthy lifestyle. Each rehabilitation session provides progressive exercise and education with medical supervision. A multi-disciplinary team customizes sessions and evaluates participants' progress.

Who Should Use This Service?

If you have been diagnosed with emphysema, chronic bronchitis, asthma or restrictive lung disease, and feel that your quality of life has been affected by this disease, pulmonary rehabilitation may be beneficial to you.

"Graduate" Pulmonary Rehabilitation

Patients who complete the exercise conditioning and education sessions may participate in the graduate program. This program provides ongoing, medically-supervised exercise in a familiar and comfortable environment.

Physician Referral

When you and your doctor decide that pulmonary rehabilitation may be beneficial, you will meet with a respiratory therapist to discuss the program and help develop your goals. Diagnostic test results and medical history will be reviewed. Our staff will handle insurance pre-authorization as needed.

Helpful Information

We encourage you to bring a support person to the evaluation session. Also, please bring your current list of medications, emergency contact information, and insurance identification card.

Exercise Conditioning Program

The Exercise Conditioning Program provides ongoing supervision, direction and education for "graduates" of pulmonary rehabilitation. Graduates may exercise in a familiar, comfortable and medically-supervised environment. This is a great way to stay committed to a healthy lifestyle!

Better Breathers Club

Monthly support group offers people with emphysema, chronic bronchitis, asthma and other respiratory diseases an opportunity to meet and socialize, learn from guest speakers, find out about Sacred Heart’s Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program and share experiences. Group meets on the second Wednesday of the month from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Please e-mail Spfanner@peacehealth.org or call 541-222-7442 for more information. Cost: FREE. 

Spirited Breathers

Spirited Breathers is a quarterly support group for caregivers and patients with interstitial pulmonary fibrosis. This group meets the second Thursday of February, May, August and November, from 3p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Please e-mail Spfanner@peacehealth.org or call 541-222-7442 for more information. Cost: FREE
