For the second year in a row, the sixth Annual SoleStice Shoe Auction was a sold-out, successful event!
“We exceeded our goal!” said Sole~Stice co-chair Patti Mackey. “We raised more than $40,000 for the Chemotherapy and Infusion Suite. This is a true testament to the support of the community for the Foundation.”
The night was filled with fabulous footware fashions and fun, but also featured a compelling treatment story by cancer survivor Julie Sande. The Chemotherapy & Infusion Suite is a project close to her heart, “When I think back on that time in my life and what it meant to be able to receive my treatment in Ketchikan, I realize what a gift it was to be near the people who loved me so they could support me even when I wasn’t able to say, ‘I’m scared and I feel sick.’ "
The Chemotherapy and Infusion Suite will be located on the second floor, easily accessible from the elevators and parking. The new Suite will have water views, private or open stations depending on patient preference and need, private patient bathrooms, and support space for staff and patients.
“Our steering committee members are so grateful to the hundreds of people who contributed to the event,” said Bridget Norton, who co-chaired the event with Ms. Mackey. “Donors, volunteers, our guests who attended, our SoleMate sponsors and corporate sponsors—StudioMax, Serendipity Salon, Simply Bella and Bella’s Boutique— were crucial to this year’s successful event.”
