KMC Funds No. 1 Priority
PeaceHealth Ketchikan Medical Center’s “Your Health—Your Future” addition and alterations project was ranked by the City of Ketchikan, City of Saxman, and the Ketchikan Gateway Borough as the number one priority to be presented to Governor Parnell for state funding.
An article in the August 28 Ketchikan Daily News states that the list’s top priority is, “$20 million to begin the first phase of the Ketchikan Medical Center improvement project,” stating that, “all three communities agreed this was a top priority.”
Assistant City Manager David Martin remarked, “This is just the first step in the process. The important thing is that the medical center is the number one priority for the community.”
The “Your Health—Your Future” project is just one of seven projects to be presented directly to the Governor. Another, more extensive list of local projects will also be presented to the state Legislature sometime in late September or early October.
PeaceHealth Ketchikan Medical Center CEO Patrick Branco expressed, “This is another strong show of support confirming just how crucial this investment into the infrastructure of the City-owned facility is at this point in time. It is essential to ensuring the availability of high-quality health care services in our community. It’s important to the health of the people we care for as well as the health of our local economy in the future.”
