When To See a Doctor

Do you have any symptoms that could cause heat syncope (fainting)?


See significance of heat syncope (fainting) if you need information to help you answer the questions below.

Review health risks that may increase the seriousness of your symptoms.

Have you had a fainting episode that lasted for more than a few seconds, but you are feeling normal now?

Call your health professional today if you answer "Yes" to any of the following questions.

Note:

The following symptoms should get better in 4 hours with home treatment measures and drinking fluids. If symptoms do not get better in 4 hours, call your doctor today to talk about your symptoms.

Do you feel faint or lightheaded?

Yes

Do you feel lightheaded when you change position, such as moving from a lying position to a standing position (orthostatic hypotension)?

Yes

Is your skin pale, cool, and moist?
