Allergies to Insect StingsExams and TestsYour doctor will diagnose an
allergic reaction to insect stings by performing a
physical examination and taking your
medical history. Your doctor may refer
you to a specialist, such as an
allergist (immunologist), who will perform
allergy tests, such as skin tests or blood tests, to
identify your allergies. It is possible that you will not show any
sensitivity to
allergens in allergy tests even after you have had an
allergic reaction to an insect sting.3 Your doctor may
recommend that you repeat these tests in 3 months.
