Hepatitis ASurgeryHepatitis A is a viral infection, so no surgical
treatment is used. A very small number of people, most often people with long-term
(chronic) liver disease or older adults, develop liver failure when they become
infected with the hepatitis A virus. This condition, called
fulminant hepatitis, is life-threatening. For some
people who have it, a
liver transplant offers the only hope for
survival.
