New and Updated Topics

New Images

Images improve the effectiveness of information in topics and add a new dimension to the Prescription-Strength Information^® content in the Healthwise Knowledgebase. Having access to these images helps consumers understand the information and improves their ability to make good decisions.

The slideshow format appears in several Healthwise Knowledgebase documents, replacing the old multi-image format for presenting series illustrations. The slideshow format helps people gain a better understanding of surgical and other medical procedures, with several images highlighting the different stages of a procedure. Users can click on one link to see a series of illustrations in sequence. For example, the Knee Replacement Surgery topic will have one slideshow link to four images rather than four separate links to four images. The following slideshows of series illustrations have been added in this release.

• A new slideshow of Breast-feeding: Latching (5 images)

New medical images also appear in several topics from The National Cancer Institute (NCI). Medical images will continue to be added in future updates from NCI.
