Excess dietary fat and high blood pressure

Although you need some fat in your diet, fat should be consumed in moderation. It is most important to monitor your intake of saturated fat. Although saturated fat does not affect your blood pressure directly, over time it can cause high cholesterol and lead to atherosclerosis, which along with high blood pressure increases your risk for heart attack and stroke.
