Who is affected by colorectal cancer
Cancer of the colon and rectum is the third most common cancer in men and women in the United States and is the second leading cause of cancer deaths. More than 90% of colorectal cancer cases occur in people who are older than 50.1
Colorectal cancer occurrence rates are highest among blacks; intermediate among whites, Asians, and Pacific Islanders; and lowest among American Indians, Alaskan Natives, and Hispanics.1
