Suggestions for monitoring and tracking

Mild
  • See a doctor annually for a checkup.
  • Let your doctor know if you develop symptoms in between visits.
  • Have an echocardiogram every 2 to 3 years.
Moderate
  • See a doctor annually.
  • Let your doctor know if you develop symptoms in between visits.
  • Have an echocardiogram once a year.
Severe
  • Have a physical examination and echocardiogram once every 6–12 months.

Other tests that may be useful in assessing the condition’s progression are a chest X-ray, electrocardiogram (EKG, ECG), and exercise stress test.
