Who is affected by colicApproximately 10% to 30% of babies have colic.1 It is equally common among males and females, whether they
are breast-fed or bottle-fed.2 Babies with colic grow
and develop normally. They are just as likely as other children to be healthy
and happy, and colic is rarely a factor in later behavioral problems, such as
sleeping problems and temper tantrums. These problems may result more from the
way family members relate to each other than from the child's experience with
colic.
