NSAIDs and high blood pressure medicationsIf you take medicine for
high blood pressure, be sure to tell your doctor if
you are also taking
nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), either
by prescription or nonprescription. Some of these medicines may reduce the
effectiveness of your blood pressure medicine. They can also cause high blood
pressure. NSAIDs relieve pain and reduce swelling and
inflammation. They are often used to treat
arthritis and other painful conditions. Examples of
NSAIDs include: - Ibuprofen (such as Advil,
Motrin).
- Naproxen (such as Aleve, Naprosyn).
- Indomethacin (Indocin).
- Ketoprofen.
- Piroxicam (Feldene).
Do not stop taking any prescription medicine without first
talking to your doctor.
