Meatal stenosis after circumcisionMeatal stenosis is the most common long-term complication of male
circumcision. Stenosis is a blockage or narrowing that
develops in the opening of the urethra, the tube that carries urine from the
bladder to the tip of the penis. Meatal stenosis often develops as the result
of an open sore (ulcer) around the opening at the tip of the penis
(glans). This may occur in circumcised males because the foreskin no longer
protects the penis from urine and stool.
