Injury-related cataracts

Cataract formation caused by injury to the eye can occur at any age. Cataracts can be caused by penetrating eye injuries (due to rocks, arrows, or shots from a BB gun, for example), blunt eye injuries, electrical shock, and X-rays.

Cataracts can form as a result of blunt eye injuries caused by child abuse.
