A vibrant, passionate, and deeply devoted wife and mother, Carolina Mathews was a radiant woman whose light brightened the lives of everyone she met.
Building a loving home and raising her children were her proudest accomplishments. She created a space where her family could grow through the warmth of her love, home-cooked meals, boundless support, and special touch. Through her willingness to love without limit, she taught her husband and children that family is forever.
Full of loyalty, love, and pride, Caro embraced life fully, integrating her Chilean heritage into everything she did. She welcomed others with open arms, quite literally, and had a special gift of bringing people together. She loved cooking and traveling, laughing and dancing, and making every moment special for others.
Her generosity of spirit and time knew no bounds; she was always ready to offer a helping hand or a sympathetic ear to anyone in need. The world is a little dimmer without her. Her life was filled with meaning, love, and joy- and that light was reflected onto every room she walked into. Carolina passed away on September 24, 2021, at the age of 48, leaving behind a large, loving family and many cherished friends.
It is in honor of that same generous spirit that her husband, Christopher, and children, Sophia and Thomas, established the Carolina Mathews Endowment. During her cancer treatment, Caro and her family witnessed firsthand the painful reality that many cancer patients face: the crushing financial pressures that come alongside already costly medical care- parking fees, missed work, childcare, travel, and lodging- all while facing one of life’s most frightening battles. Cancer does not discriminate, and these basic yet essential needs too often become unseen barriers to treatment, draining precious time, energy, and emotional strength from those who need it most.
The Carolina Mathews Endowment is dedicated to supporting local cancer patients and their families by helping to alleviate the hidden financial obstacles to care. We strive to ensure that the path to lifesaving treatment is as feasible as possible-honoring Caro’s legacy by extending compassion, dignity, and hope to those who need it most.

Una esposa y madre vibrante, apasionada y profundamente dedicada, Carolina Mathews fue una mujer radiante en la vida de todos los que tuvieron la suerte de conocerla.
Construir un casa lleno de amor y criar a sus hijos fueron sus mayores logros. Creó un espacio donde su familia pudo crecer gracias a su amor, sus comidas caseras y su toque especial. Con su manera de amar sin límites, enseñó a su esposo y a sus hijos que la familia es para siempre.
Llena de lealtad, amor y orgullo, Caro abrazó la vida con entusiasmo, integrando su herencia Chilena en todo lo que hacía. Recibía a los demás con los brazos abiertos, literalmente, y tenía el poder especial de unir a las personas. Le encantaban las caminatas y los viajes, reírse y bailar. Era una cocinera talentosa y encontraba alegría en los detalles, haciendo cada momento especial para los demás. Su generosidad, su tiempo y su corazón no tenían límites; siempre ofrecía una mano o un oído atento a quien lo necesitara.
El mundo es un poco más oscuro sin ella. Su vida estuvo llena de significado, amor y alegría- y compartió esa luz sin reservas. Carolina falleció el 24 de septiembre de 2021, a los 48 años, dejando atrás una familia grande y amorosa, y muchos amigos queridos.
En honor a ese espíritu generoso, su esposo, Christopher, y sus hijos, Sophia y Thomas, establecieron la Fundación Carolina Mathews. Durante su tratamiento contra el cáncer, Caro y su familia fueron testigos de la dura realidad que enfrentan muchos pacientes: las cargas financieras abrumadoras que acompañan el acceso a la atención médica- costes de estacionamiento, tiempo fuera del trabajo, cuidado de niños, viajes y alojamiento- todo mientras luchan una batalla aterradora. El cáncer es indiscriminado, y con demasiada frecuencia estas necesidades básicas se convierten en barreras invisibles para el tratamiento.
La Fundación Carolina Mathews se dedica a apoyar a los pacientes con cáncer y a sus familias al aliviar los obstáculos financieros que pueden interferir con el acceso a la atención.
