What We Are Doing:
This is no longer a NPSG but is imbedded in the Provision of Care, Treatment, and Services Standards. PeaceHealth St John Medical Center has a "Rapid Response Team" (RRT) available every day around the clock to any staff member or to families that feel changes in a patient's condition need immediate attention. Each RRT response is reviewed and tracked along with "Code Blue" (the response for cardiac or respiratory arrest) events. By tracking each call we've found how effective we've become at reducing Code Blue activations. It really works! It also helps us identify opportunities to educate, resulting in Medical/Surgical Unit nurses with exceptional critical assessment skills.
