|Measure: Identify patients at risk for suicide |
Time Period Ending: 3/31/2013
What We Are Doing:
NPSG.15.01.01 - Identify patients at risk for suicide.
Note: This requirement applies only to psychiatric hospitals and patients being treated for emotional or behavioral disorders in general hospitals. PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center staff is trained to identify suicide risks with patients, especially in the Emergency Department. We have revised our suicide assessment form to improve the assessment of patients admitted to floors other than Behavioral Health. This assessment form and process will help in early identification of suicide risks. We also have a Behavioral Health Response Team that responds whenever staff is concerned about a patient's mental status or suicidal ideations. County resources are available for emergency room evaluations for Involuntary Hold orders if necessary for patient safety.
