What We Are Doing:
St. Joe's has a policy that ensures your doctor is notified of critically important lab results, x-rays, and other diagnostic procedures within specified time frames. We document what the result was, the time of notification, which doctor was notified, and who notified the doctor. We use the same write down, read back process with lab results that is used for verbal physician's orders to ensure accurate communication of results. We review these results  and perform monthly audits to make sure this is done every time in the hospital and in our clinics.
