What We Are Doing:

A Cardiovascular Improvement Team, led by a heart specialist, is involved in the continuous review of records of all patients who come to PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center when having a Myocardial Infarction (heart attack). Our team is part of a cooperative effort involving all PeaceHealth hospitals, focused on ensuring that we provide the best possible care based on the latest, proven research. We want to make sure that a patient who has had or is at risk for having a heart attack is prescribed aspirin and understands how important it is to continue taking it when they return home.

Our order sets for Cardiology patients not only provide quick reference sections for recommended medications, but space to alert providers in the future as to why they may be contraindicated.
