What We Are Doing:

Venous thromboembolisms, DVT, pulmonary embolisms are all blood clots. They can form anywhere blood travels. Proven research shows that certain medications and mechanical compression devices (leg squeezers) can greatly reduce the risk of blood clots forming after surgery. These medications or devices are ordered for all but very low-risk surgical patients. However, the surgeon has the option to order them for any surgical patient.
