What We Are Doing:
We have modified processes and increased report monitoring of patients with urinary catheters to help nurses remind physicians to remove the cather before the end of the second calendar day after surgery or provide a reason for its continuation.  Since these changes, we have seen marked improvements in this measure.  Experiences reported from the floor indicate we may anticipate more in the future.
