What We Are Doing:
Venous thromboembolisms, DVT, or pulmonary embolisms are all blood clots. They can form anywhere blood travels. Proven research shows that certain medications and mechanical devices (such as "leg squeezers") can greatly reduce the risk of blood clots forming after surgery. These medications or devices are ordered for all of our surgical patients.
