Katie Thomas, MSN, CPNP, has been a pediatric nurse practitioner for 15 years of her 25 years as a registered nurse, doing everything from well-child exams to pediatric intensive care. She began her nursing career at Willamette Falls Community Hospital and Oregon Health & Science University, where she became a charge nurse in pediatric intensive care and served on the pediatric transport team. Since becoming a nurse practitioner, she has provided outpatient care in a variety of settings, including at a clinic serving, among others, children of migrant workers and another clinic serving teen mothers. Prior to joining South Lane Medical Group she worked for Metropolitan Pediatrics in Beaverton, providing well-child exams and gynecologic exams for children and teenagers and caring for children of all ages with acute and chronic illnesses. “I enjoy the variety that general pediatrics offers and am particularly fond of working with teenage girls,” she says. “As the mother of two school-age children, I’m also interested in growth and development issues, in parenting, and in the challenges involved in raising healthy, happy and productive children.”
