Dr. Cabrales was born August 10, 1962 in Castro Valley, California. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Stanford University in 1984 and his medical degree from Cornell University Medical College in New York City in 1988. Dr. Cabrales completed his surgical residency training at the University of Washington Medical Center in 1993. He joined the staff at Longview Surgical Group in August 1993.
Dr. Cabrales and his wife, Vicki, have two boys. He enjoys the outdoors, music and reading. Dr. Cabrales is a wine enthusiast and has been the ‘wine advisor' to several local restaurants. Dr. Cabrales was also a Lieutenant Commander of the U.S. Naval Reserves from 1990 to 1997. He speaks Spanish and Italian.
Dr. Cabrales is certified by the American Board of Surgery in General Surgery. He has a special interest in thoracic surgery. Thoracic surgery includes all chest and lung surgery including pacemakers but excluding heart surgery. He has admitting privileges at St. John Medical Center (Longview, Washington); S.W. Washington Medical Center (Vancouver, Washington). In addition, he consults and treats patients in conjunction with surgeons at Oregon Health Sciences University and the University of Washington. Dr. Cabrales holds medical licenses in both the State of Washington and Oregon.
