Adams, Lisa M. MD

Dr. Lisa Adams joins our Hospitalist team after 2 years with Shannon Medical Center and Specialized Complex Care in San Angelo, Texas. She is board certified in Internal Medicine. Dr. Adams received her medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas. She completed both her internship and residency at the Medical College of Virginia, in Richmond.

Barnes, Robert C. MD

Infectious Disease and hyperbaric medicine specialist Robert Barnes, MD, worked as a laboratory chief with the Centers of Disease Control in Atlanta following medical training. Following this, he practiced internal medicine and infectious diseases for 18 years, most recently at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle. His 25 years in the Navy Reserve and experience as a submarine officer led to a professional subspecialty in hyperbaric medicine, and his current role as the Medical Director of the Sacred Heart Medical Center Hyperbaric Center.

Barnhart, Richard A. MD

Internal medicine specialist Richard Barnhart, MD, joined PeaceHealth Medical Group’s hospitalist service at Sacred Heart in 2007. Prior to becoming a hospitalist, Dr. Barnhart was in a private internal medicine practice in Springfield for more than 20 years. His varied background includes service in the U.S. Marine Corps and the Indian Health Service and a six month locum tenens position as a medical consultant in New Zealand. Dr. Barnhart has a special interest in endocrinology and is active in efforts to reform and improve access to health care in Oregon and beyond.

Birdseye, Michelle L. MD

Michelle Birdseye, MD received her medical degree from Mercer University School of Medicine, Macon, Georgia. Her internship was completed at the Naval Hospital on Oakland, California in 1989 and her residency at Brown University in Rhode Island. Dr. Birdseye is certified by the American Board of Family Practice. She joined the PeaceHealth medical staff in 1995. Her special interests in medicine include women’s health, pediatrics, preventive medicine and obstetrical care.

Black, Serena S. MD

Dr. Serena Black joined PeaceHealth Medical Group in 2011 after completing her residency at Children's Hospital & Research Center in Oakland, CA where she was also chief resident. Prior to medical school, Dr. Black lived in Philadelphia working in clinic research. It was there that she discovered how much she enjoyed working closely with patients and the desire to work directly with patients is what inspired her to go to medical school. She chose pediatric medicine because she believes the foundation of great pediatric care is the important relationships a provider must foster with patients and their families. When Dr. Black is not caring for patients in the clinic, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their young daughter. Traveling, reading and cooking are all passions for Dr. Black. She also likes to spend time outdoors and is excited about all the beautiful places Lane County offers for hiking and other outdoor pursuits.

Bouressa, Paul G. MD

Dr. Bouressa is an inveterate Cheesehead. This he freely admits. A native of Wisconsin's "frozen tundra" and, naturally, a lifetime fan of the Green Bay Packers, Dr. Bouressa doesn't have many pet peeves, unless, that is, you count Dallas Cowboys fans. He says he chose to start his practice in Eugene because of its natural surroundings. A specialist in pediatrics, Bouressa believes his job is not just that of a physician. "In pediatrics, I find it important to be an educator to both child and family members," says Dr. Bouressa. "Trying to reassure a worried parent can be difficult, and it's something you can't really learn in medical school-it's something innate, it's part of your character."

Dr. Deb Dotters has been practicing Gynecologic Oncology in Eugene since 1996 and treats women who have been referred to her because they have cancer, or complicated gynecologic conditions. "People are so anxious when they walk through my door," said Dr. Dotters, "I've learned how important it is to listen - not just when they talk about their illness, but when they talk about their lives." Dr. Dotters is also a member of the Association of Women Surgeons and the Society of Gyn Oncologists. I am also board certified in Gynecologic Oncology.

Drach, Frederick S. MD

John Dunphy MD has been in PHMG now for more than thirty years. During that time he has frequently been involved in leadership at various levels. He recently retired from being chief of pediatrics during which time he was instrumental in helping develop what is now a fully functioning pediatric hospitalist program. John is now job-sharing with Dr Serena Black MD. This allows him to continue to enjoy working with multiple generations of children in his practice and still have time to spend with his family. He particularly enjoys fishing and generally being outdoors.

Dzubay, Leita Marie MD

Dr Dzubay (pronounced zoo-bay) has been practicing at PeaceHealth Medical Group since 2003. She cares for children of all ages, both at her clinic in the Riverbend Pavilion and at Sacred Heart Hospital. " As a strong believer in attachment parenting, I enjoy helping families through the amazing transition of the newborn period," says Dr. Dzubay. "At the other end of childhood, I find assisting teenagers as they move toward adulthood equally exciting and rewarding." Dr. Dzubay also has a special interest in breastfeeding, public health and preventive medicine.

Dr. Evans joined PeaceHealth Medical Group's Gastroenterology practice in 2008 after completing his fellowship at the Mayo Clinic. Dr. Evans, his wife and daughter are excited to be in Lane County and enjoy exploring what the community has to offer. When's he's not practicing medicine, Dr. Evans enjoys the outdoor sports, woodworking, playing the guitar and cooking.

Ewing, Thomas N. MD

Tom Ewing, MD a practicing Family Physician, is the Chief Medical Officer for PeaceHealth Medical Group. As Chief Medical Officer he provides clinical leadership to PeaceHealth Medical Group including the clinical divisions of Behavioral Health Services, Adult and Family Medicine, Specialties, and Pediatrics. He is involved in strategic planning related to PHMG’s role in the community, Region and System and leading the integration of clinical quality. Dr. Ewing serves on the Board of Directors for Oregon Health Care Quality Corporation whose mission is to improve the quality of health care in Oregon through community-wide collaboration. Dr. Ewing received his medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine and served his residency at Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Ewing enjoys playing the bass and "outdoor adventures."

Frank Foster, M.D. received his medical degree from University of California at San Diego in 1987. He completed residencies from Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, Colton, California in 1993 and from Lincoln Medical Center in Bronx, New York in 2002. Dr. Foster is certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine. He joined the PeaceHealth medical staff in July of 2008.

Garrett, Audrey P. MD

Dr. Garrett earned her medical degree from Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons, and completed both her OB/GYN residency and Gynecologic Oncology fellowship at Harvard’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Dr. Garrett practiced at Brown University until 2002, when she and husband Craig Seidman, MD, moved to Eugene. Dr. Garrett has three children.

Internal medicine specialist Waleed Gliza, MD, joined PeaceHealth Medical Group’s hospitalist practice in 2007. Originally from Libya, Dr. Gliza began his medical training in Tripoli and completed it in Massachusetts, where he spent three years in the Berkshire Medical Center Internal Medicine Program and was involved in quality review research involving compliance with diabetic management guidelines
