Hammond, Christopher C. MD
3299 Hilyard Street
Eugene OR 97405
Dr. Christopher joined PeaceHealth Medical Group in 2007. Prior to moving to Oregon, he lived in Albuquerque where he served as a pediatric hospitalist, caring for children who were hospitalized at the Children's Hospital of New Mexico. He continues this interest and expertise here by leading the group in coverage of the pediatric inpatient unit at Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend. He also established the inpatient pediatric sedation service. He is an affiliate assistant professor in the Dept. of Pediatrics at Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) and co-clerkship course director for the third year medical student rotation at Riverbend.
He is fluent in Spanish and also has a special interest in breastfeeding advocacy. He has published newspaper articles, given lectures, as well as assisted in passing breastfeeding legislation. Other areas that are important to Dr. Hammond include judicious use of medical testing and antibiotic use. He is board certified in pediatrics and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He currently is accepting new patients from birth through age 18 and works at the new Eugene University District location.
He enjoys spending time with his family, including his wife, Elise, and six children (Connor, Julia, Dylan, Owen, Tessa, and Pippa). In his free time, he enjoys fishing, pretending to be a farmer at their home in the countryside, playing basketball and golf, but is often being tackled in the yard by his kids, who think they are Denver Bronco football players. He is a recent convert to Duck fandom thanks to his mentor, Dr. Buz Harlor.
Dr. Hammond is a 2013 Guardian Angel award winner.
You can see Dr. Hammond and five of his children in this 2012 local promotion video for Sluggo's fitness challenge.
