Ballman, Robert J. MD

Dr. Ballman says he enjoys the diversity and challenges of internal medicine. His established practice emphasizes management of heart and lung disease, diabetes and musculoskeletal complaints. Because half of his patients are over 65, he has gravitated into geriatrics and continues to serve as medical director at South Hills Nursing Home and Cascade Manor. He serves on the Alzheimer's Association Board and the Behavioral Medicine Clinical Services Group.

Barrington-Shulenberger, Rosa L. ANP, FNP, DNP

Rosze Barrington-Shulenberger, DNP, ANP, FNP is at the Internal Medicine department at the main clinic downtown. She is coming to us from Grants Pass, Oregon where she has been in private practice at the Barrington Health Clinic. Rosze attended the University of Portland for her undergraduate BSN and completed the Masters, Adult Nurse Practitioner program. She began her NP Career that same year in Portland, Oregon. She then completed the Family Nurse Practitioner Program at Metropolitan State University in St. Paul, MN while working with homeless youth and went on to complete her Doctor of Nursing Practice at Rush University in Chicago with a focus on homeless Children. Rosze is ANCC Board Certified as an Adult Nurse Practitioner and as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Rosze loves to dance and sing. She became a folk singer and played guitar in the 70’s and it was during this period of time that she changed her name from Rosa to Rosze. She studied classical music for a number of years and during the 80’s performed throughout the US and Europe including two Carnegie Hall appearances.

Beckstrand, Katherine L. MD

In addition to her clinical aptitude, Dr. Beckstrand has something of a green thumb. She has a wildlife garden that is recognized by the National Wildlife Federation as a certified backyard habitat. Dr. Beckstrand has been with PeaceHealth Medical Group since 1991.

Belen, Mariquita Irene T. MD

Birdseye, Michelle L. MD

Michelle Birdseye, MD received her medical degree from Mercer University School of Medicine, Macon, Georgia. Her internship was completed at the Naval Hospital on Oakland, California in 1989 and her residency at Brown University in Rhode Island. Dr. Birdseye is certified by the American Board of Family Practice. She joined the PeaceHealth medical staff in 1995. Her special interests in medicine include women’s health, pediatrics, preventive medicine and obstetrical care.

Buie, James C. MD

Dr. Buie was born in Ocala, Florida and raised in Georgia - came to the Northwest in 1974. He was married in 1967 to Nancy Gayle, R.N., and has two daughters, Jennifer and Susan, and one grandson, Kaden. He enjoys working with youth at First Baptist Church, traveling, biking, reading and caring for his patients in his practice.

Chaplin, Jill J. MD

Jill J. Chaplin, MD, is an experienced family medicine physician who provides general medical care and minor surgical care to patients of all ages, from infants through older adults. She has a special interest in adult medicine, parenting, endocrinology, gynecology, pediatrics and psychiatry and in improving the delivery of health care, including innovations to improve the care of patients with Type 2 diabetes. Dr. Chaplin grew up in Oregon but spent nearly 20 years in private practice in Maine before returning, in 2006, to join PeaceHealth Medical Group. While living in Maine she also served as an associate professor at the University of Vermont Medical School. In her own time she enjoys gardening, hiking and camping.

Fillingame, Ralph A. MD

Dr. Ralph Fillingame has been in Family Practice downtown for over 15 years; previously at Mountain Plains Family Practice in Denver, CO. Dr. Fillingame specializes in a full range of family practice especially procedures like vasectomies and flexible sigmoidoscopy. When he is not in the office, Dr. Fillingame enjoys family and church activities, skiing, biking, and other outdoor sports.

Rizvi, Gulrukh MD

Dr. Gulrukh Rizvi joined the Family Medicine practice at PeaceHealth Medical Group in 2009. Originally from California, Dr. Rizvi was excited about moving to Eugene as a way to be closer to her extended family. Dr. Rizvi attending medical school in Southern California at the University of California, Irvine College of Medicine and completed her residency in Sacramento at the Sutter Family Medicine Residency Program prior to joining PeaceHealth Medical Group. Dr. Rizvi enjoys cooking, gardening, hiking, yoga, knitting and camping. She also loves to spend time with family, which includes her husband and young son.
