Living Well Alaska is a series of workshops that help people with chronic illnesses learn ways to self manage their condition and take charge of their life.
This six-week program is designed to help people living with conditions such as arthritis, diabetes and heart disease and covers a range of health topics such as: — healthy eating — relaxation techniques — managing fatigue — low impact exercising — managing medications — problem solving — goal setting — working with your health professional.
Research on this program has shown that participants are able to manage their symptoms better and communicate more easily with their doctors and loved ones. People who take the program feel better, are less limited by their illness, and may spend less time at the doctor or in the hospital.
