Girls Night Out

The 8th Annual Girls Night Out event will take place in Fairhaven on Friday, June 28. Girls Night Out is a fundraiser with all proceeds benefiting PeaceHealth St. Joseph Cancer Center. More than $7,400 was raised last year, and this year’s goal is $10,000!

For $15 you’ll receive your Girls Night Out Passport and begin the evening with Passport Shopping in Fairhaven from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. By visiting at least 10 participating businesses, you can enter to win a fantastic prize that will be awarded later in the evening. Participating businesses may offer discounts, host giveaways, feature artists, and offer sample treats.

Your Passport also provides entry into the “Backyard Bash” Gala Party, Fashion Show and Silent and Live Auctions at the Bellingham Cruise Terminal from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Along with a live DJ, photo booth, games, door prizes and plenty of fun, themed beverages and small snacks will be available for purchase.

Mindfulness Meditation


Mindfulness will bring awareness to present experiences without judgment or expectation of how it is supposed to be. You will learn to relate to yourself with kindness and compassion.

Leading the class is Lisa Harmon, LMHC, who has been a therapist since 2003. Lisa works with mindfulness-based therapy to assist people dealing with a chronic pain or illness, depression or anxiety.

Open to patients, survivors, family and friends.

No registration necessary. Please be on time so once started, meditation can continue without disruption.

Lisa Dixon demonstrates summer salads as perfect one-dish meals; light enough for the summer heat but substantial enough to satisfy the heartiest appetite. We'll enjoy a charred corn and fresh tomato salad with grilled steak and cilantro chimichurri, roasted potato and arugula salad with wild salmon and creamy avocado salsa, and spicy Southwest quinoa and black bean salad with grilled prawns.

Join Registered Dietitian and Nutritionist Lisa Dixon to create a casual but elegant picnic, perfect for enjoying during the warm days of summer. We'll enjoy a sparkling lime-basil agua fresca, shrimp and tomato salad with tarragon vinaigrette, chilled currant-beet soup, fingerling potato salad, and spicy dark chocolate brownies.

Yoga for Cancer Patients

Yoga is offered to patients of the Cancer Center and mats are provided. Practicing yoga since 2003, Holly Davidson leads these classes. She is a certified yoga teacher and is currently studying Yoga Therapy. She has her own studio in Ferndale and is certified through the Yoga Alliance as an Registered Yoga Teacher. Holly believes the more we get to know our bodies, the better we are able to compassionately take care of ourselves and live each day more fully.
