Healing Our Heros

The Alaska VA, VA-Office of Rural Health, Alaska AHEC and Alaska Nurses Association are excited to announce:
HEALING OUR HEROS: Competencies for Healthcare Providers and Community Advocates – Veteran’s Mental Health.

With over 77,000 veterans, Alaska has the highest per capita population in the US. This free education and networking event is designed to help healthcare providers and community advocates meet the needs of Alaska’s veterans. You will come away with a better understanding of military culture, post-traumatic stress disorder, suicide prevention, community resources, and methods for navigating the VA healthcare system.

Registration is free and limited to 60 participants. 8:30am to 4:30pm with Breakfast and Lunch provided.

Participants are eligible for 5.75 Nursing Contact hours. The Alaska Nurses Association is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by Montana Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. AAFP and NASW Continuing Education credits have been applied for and are pending approval.

Display areas will be available for materials you would like to bring on services your organization provides to Alaska veterans. Please feel free to share this event with other veteran service providers and community advocates.
