Among the services it provides are advanced cancer treatments such as radiation therapy, chemotherapy, and radiation implants, plus laboratory, pharmacy, diagnostic x-ray, nutritional support, counseling, social services, and support groups. Clinical trials that investigate promising new cancer treatments are available for those who qualify. The center is a community partnership among the physicians of Oncology Associates of Oregon in conjunction with PeaceHealth, McKenzie-Willamette Hospital, and US Oncology, Inc. The hospital provides comprehensive diagnostic services, surgery, chemotherapy, and nursing care for cancer patients in the hospital. Radiation services, if needed, are provided by Willamette Valley Cancer Center (see above) on an outpatient basis. The hospital’s oncology unit is guided by a philosophy that respects the dignity and self-worth of each individual patient, involving the patient and family in all levels of decision-making, honoring the patient’s treatment choices, and providing supportive care if the patient is no longer amenable to curative treatment.
