Center For Medical Education & Research
Sacred Heart Medical Center (SHMC) is home to the first Regional Campus for the Oregon Health & Science University School of Medicine in the state of Oregon. The Center for Medical Education & Research provides support and guidance to medical students, SHMC physician faculty, and the PeaceHealth staff who work with our future doctors on a day-to-day basis.
Since our program began in 2006, our regional medical education campus has provided training to 80-100 students per year, with as many as 12 third- and fourth-year students in the area at any one time.
By choosing to come to Eugene/Springfield during medical school, students will have a very singular educational experience. They will be working closely with their attending physician and many of his or her colleagues for the entire rotation. We do not have residency programs so their patient experience will be very hands-on, challenging and rewarding.
