Independent evaluation by HealthGrades
St. Joseph Hospital of Bellingham has been
awarded the #1 ranking in Washington State for heart care as
well as ranking in the top 10% of all hospitals nationwide.
These rankings are based on information
gathered from public records and evaluated by HealthGrades, an
independent service that objectively rates the performance of
over 5,000 hospitals nationwide. Each year HealthGrades analyzes
the quality care provided by hospitals and publishes the
rankings.

development for St. Joseph Hospital. “It is always been our
objective to provide world-class service to the citizens of this
community and we feel that we are accomplishing our goal.

like HealthGrades recognize our program as five star and give it
the #1 ranking in the State of Washington.”
HealthGrades 2002 hospital rankings are based
on data collected from 1998 through 2000 from the United States
Health Care Finance Administration, the administrative body for
Medicare. The aim of HealthGrades Hospital Report Card in
ranking hospitals nationwide is to empower customers by
providing access to accurate, detailed information about health

Cardiovascular Mission Statement
The Cardiovascular Services Department at St.
Joseph Hospital manages, coordinates and provides comprehensive,
seamless, patient centered heart care, addressing needs of the
mind, body and spirit for each patient. A multi-disciplinary,
collaborative approach across the continuum of heart health is
used to accomplish that mission. Services include
prevention through screening and education, diagnosis,
treatment, intervention to support ongoing recovery through
support of rehabilitation and lifestyle management.
