Pulmonary Medicine refers to the treatment, evaluation and diagnosis of lung and breathing disorders. At PeaceHealth Medical Group, our pulmonary physicians offer a very personalized approach to lung care. Services range from routine assessments of chronic cough and shortness of breath to evaluating patients for lung transplants or specialized cancer treatment.

In their diagnoses, our physicians often utilize Pulmonary Function Testing, or PFT. PFT is a test comprised of various breathing maneuvers that patients perform as directed by our technician, which measure how well one's lungs take in and exhale air and how efficiently they transfer oxygen into the blood. The information gathered is useful in diagnosing certain types of lung disorders, including:

  • Asthma
  • Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
  • Interstitial lung disease

Pulmonary function tests are commonly repeated over time to monitor an individual's progress. PeaceHealth Medical Group’s Pulmonary Medicine physicians are strongly committed to providing you with the compassionate and comprehensive care that you deserve.
