After more than two years of research and planning on its
institutional master plan, St. Joseph Hospital spent the
majority of 2006 getting community input. The institutional
master plan looks site and facility need for the hospital’s Main
Campus through 2025 and is a required document by the City of
Bellingham in order to expand.A community advisory committee
with members from Cornwall and Sunnyland neighborhoods and
nearby business owners met regularly. St. Joseph also hosted
three open houses to present the plan and get public feedback.
The Bellingham City Council, who praised the hospital for how
it created the plan, approved it in December 2006.
St. Joseph can now pursue a certificate of need with the
Department of Health to add more beds and build additional
square footage at Main Campus. |
