Catholic Health
Care Ministry
PeaceHealth's mission is rooted in Catholic
social teaching, which emphasizes human dignity, social
justice and working for the common good. In
conjunction with these teachings, we follow the ethical and
religious directives for Catholic health care services that
include social, pastoral and spiritual responsibility, the
dignity of the patient relationship, and how we care for the
living and the dying.

A Brief History of
the Founding of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace |
|
Our history begins in Ireland. Our founder,
Margaret Anna Cusack, was born in Dublin in the mid 1800s.
Her family was Protestant Anglo-Irish. Her father was a
physician, who much to her society mother's disappointment,
had his practice in a clinic that served the poor of the
city, not the wealthy Anglo-Irish community that her mother
identified with. Margaret's close relationship with her
father and his love for the poor had a profound impact on
the way Margaret's social conscience developed.
