Compassion
Compassion is the humane quality of understanding
the struggles and suffering of others. It is the ability to feel
with another and, even more basically, the ability to be with
another in their situation, to be fully present. Compassion is
neither sentiment nor pity, but it motivates us to acts of justice
and works of mercy.
Compassion is the ultimate and most meaningful
embodiment of emotional maturity because it requires the keen
awareness of the interdependence of all things. It is through
compassion that a person achieves the highest peak and deepest reach
in his or her search for self-fulfillment.

“Compassion is an inner feeling. It’s how we
feel about others as we put ourselves in their position, walk in
their shoes, and see the good. It’s our outward demonstration of
that inner feeling when one soul touches another soul through
personal contact – looking each other in the eye or through the
laying on of hands..."
