Exceptional Medicine and Compassionate Care

Career Opportunities.PeaceHealth has been consistently named one of the 100 Most Wired Hospitals and Health Systems by Hospitals & Health Networks magazine since 1999, most recently in 2003.

Ketchikan General Hospital’s cancer program is one of only two such programs in the state of Alaska to be accredited by the American College of Surgeons. Accreditation was made possible through a unique relationship with PeaceHealth’s hospital in Longview, WA (St. John Medical Center), utilizing video teleconferencing to discuss patient care and treatment options.

Letters from patients. The compassionate care provided by PeaceHealth in southeast Alaska is perhaps best expressed in unsolicited letters from patients such as these:

"With my medical history, I have been in many hospitals. From the moment I arrived in your emergency room, I was met with the best staff I have ever encountered in any hospital, anyplace, including some of the so-called ‘big medical centers.’" (from North Carolina)

"All the nurses were pleasant, service-oriented, and most importantly, very humane in their approach…" (from the Netherlands)

"We are both elderly, but I have spent the greater part of my professional life as an R.N., from intensive care to teaching…I personally have never experienced better care or seen such superior skills…" (from Arizona)
