Women's Diagnostic Imaging Campaign Philanthropists 2006

Screening for breast cancer has become one of the most routine procedures conducted by any imaging department over the past twenty years. But due to space and equipment limitations, we continue to treat this as a complicated event–requiring patients to travel to various areas within the Hospital, taking long periods of time, sometimes requiring multiple appointments. 
The new Women’s Diagnostic Imaging Suite at Ketchikan General Hospital will change how we deliver care. It will provide a one-stop, single appointment, result oriented experience for our patients. The new suite will locate all equipment in one area— allowing for increased comfort and privacy, and providing state-of-the-art equipment including: 

• Mammography
• Computer Aided Detection (CAD)
• Bone densitometry
• Ultrasound
• Stereotactic breast biopsy 

With this new technology, diagnosis will be faster and easier, reducing extra visits, anxiety and travel costs. 

Men and children will benefit too!

As a part of this project PeaceHealth will purchase a new ultrasound machine capable of serving men and children as well as women for many diagnostic procedures, including cardiac, abdominal, and vascular procedures. 

The total cost of the Women’s Diagnostic Imaging Suite is $450,000. The goal of the KGH Foundation was to raise $250,000 with Ketchikan General Hospital providing the remaining $200,000.
