Q: Does Ketchikan General offer health insurance?

A: Yes. Employees may choose among three medical plan options, as well as dental and vision coverage. Employees may also participate in flexible spending accounts by depositing pre-tax dollars into accounts to offset uninsured medical claims or dependent care expenses.

Q: When do medical benefits become effective?

A: The first day of the month following 90 days after date of hire in a benefits-eligible position (at least 20 hours/week). For managers, benefits are effective on the first day of the month after your date of hire in a benefits-eligible position.

Q: What other insurance does Ketchikan General offer?

A: Life insurance for employees and their dependents, and accidental death and dismemberment insurance (AD&D) for employees. Employees may opt for additional life insurance (for themselves or their dependents) or AD&D insurance. Long-term disability coverage is provided at no cost to employees.

Q: Does Ketchikan General offer a retirement savings plan?

A: Yes. Beginning on your first day of work, you can save a percentage of your pay in a tax-deferred annuity (TDA) and receive certain tax advantages. On the January 1 or July 1 after you have worked for at least six months, you'll receive matching contributions to your account if you save at least 2% of your pay in the TDA and meet the age and service requirements.

On the January 1 or July 1 after you have completed at least three years of service and have met all other eligibility requirements, you'll also become eligible to receive PeaceHealth-funded base plan contributions. You own (or are fully "vested" in) your own contributions as well as Ketchikan General’s matching and base contributions as soon as they are deposited in your account.

Q: Does Ketchikan General offer paid time off?

A: Yes. Eligible employees are provided with a generous paid time off program that combines vacation, holiday, and sick days.
