Surgery patients are usually scheduled for an appointment with the Anesthesia Clinic prior to surgery. On the day of surgery, patients and family members will check into the Surgical Procedure Area (SPA). In order to familiarize yourself with these services ahead of time, please click the links below.
Upon admission to the hospital, patients and their families are provided with a private room for preoperative care. When the patient is transferred to the operating room, the family is invited to a comfortable family lounge or other waiting area.
SmarTrack is an electronic patient tracking system that communicates where each patient is during the surgery process. It is available in the family lounge or on any computer around the world. Loved ones can confidentially track a patient’s progress through surgery no matter where they are.

Pain Control: Pain is both a medical symptom and a medical problem—too much pain can slow healing. Our caregivers focus on managing pain quickly and effectively.
Hospitalists: You may receive care from a hospitalist, an internal medicine specialist with extra training in managing serious illness and coordinating care. Hospitalists are at Sacred Heart 24 hours a day, and concentrate solely on taking care of patients in the hospital. You can be assured that an expert is always there to read your test results promptly, coordinate care provided by a variety of specialists, keep a close eye on your progress and meet with your family.
