differently. The illnesses and injuries they suffer can be quite different, requiring specialized knowledge and treatment focused on age-specific needs.
Pediatric/Adolescent Care Unit at Sacred Heart Medical Center at
RiverBend is one of the few dedicated pediatric care facilities between San Francisco and Portland. It is uniquely qualified to meet the needs of hospitalized children and adolescents. Everything on the unit is designed for children, age newborn to 18.

| Children require an environment that is safe and secure. Our dedicated unit is staffed by nurses who care exclusively for children of all ages in a family-centered environment. We are dedicated to making sure families are treated not only with state of the art medical equipment, but also with love, care and compassion. |

Treatment Team
Parents are at the center of their child’s care at Sacred Heart Medical Center. You know your child best, and that knowledge plays an important role in helping us understand your child’s needs. We listen to you, keep you informed and involve you every step of the way. As part of our healing mission, we encourage you to stay with your child throughout his or her hospital stay and invite other loved ones to visit.
When you arrive at the Pediatric/Adolescent Care Unit, you will find a team of experienced professionals here to help you, including:

Pediatricians on-call 24 hours a day

Dieticians specializing in the nutritional needs of kids
In addition to the core team, we have social workers and chaplains who are available to offer counseling, guidance and support.

A Family-Centered Environment
We have designed our pediatric center to be as comfortable as possible for newborns, children and adolescents of all ages and their families.
In each room you will find a cot or a bed with extra linens so you can stay overnight with your child. Each room also has its own telephone, TV, VCR and videogame system. Children and their families have access to a library of videotapes and videogames. Radios/CD players, highchairs, rocking chairs, wagons, infant swings and infant mobiles are also available. We have the ability to monitor all of our rooms as needed from the central nurses station.
In addition, we offer a variety of other resources to make your stay more comfortable:

A playroom equipped with toys and activities for kids of all ages

A family waiting area with a TV, refrigerator, microwave, telephone and complimentary coffee, tea and sodas

An enclosed outdoor courtyard with comfortable seating and outdoor toys
