Meet Our Staff

The program includes staff from many medical fields—surgical, counseling, dietary, physical therapy—and a program manager to coordinate the entire Center. A medical bariatrics physician will be on board to launch the medical bariatrics program.
 

Karlyn DeBow, RD
Program Manager and Registered Dietitian
Bachelor of Science, Foods and Nutrition, Oregon State University
Dietetic Internship, University of Wisconsin, Madison

Karlyn has more than 20 years of experience in the field of nutrition working with on the inpatient and outpatient side, including six years of counseling with patients in a clinical setting. She has specialized in critical care and the care of surgical patients since 1995. Her interest in working with bariatric patients stems from her involvement as a guest speaker with a local bariatric patient support group.


Erin Tucholke, RD, LD
Registered Dietitian

Bachelor of Science in Natural Health Sciences/Nutrition, Bastyr University
Post Baccalaureate Didactic Program in Dietetics, Oregon State University
Dietetic Internship, Oregon Health & Science University

Erin completed an accredited graduate dietetics program at Oregon State University before embarking on her health care career. That has included work with senior and disabled patients as well as dietitian duties elsewhere within Sacred Heart Medical Center. Erin has extensive volunteer experience that dates back to 1985. She is food-safety certified with ServSafe and she knows CPR and first aid.


Mary B.W. Halpert, PT
Physical Therapist
Bachelor of Science, Physical Education, University of Oregon
Certificate in Physical Therapy, Columbia University, New York

Mary has been a physical therapist with clinical experience in outpatient orthopedic physical therapy, ergonomics, work capacity evaluation and rehabilitation since 1976. She is a certified Pilates instructor. At the Oregon Bariatric Center, Mary helps identify and structure appropriate exercise programs for our clients.
 

Rosemary Parnell, RN
Certified Case Manager

Associate Degree of Nursing, Bethany Hospital, Kansas City, KS

Rosemary’s nursing experience goes back to 1971. She has worked in Endoscopy, post-anesthesia care, and as a Director of Nursing responsible for a staff of 22. She has seen her share of patients and she understands their needs, both medically and emotionally.

 

Bridgette Wiley
Office Lead/Patient Access Specialist

Bridgette is the Office Lead and Patient Access Specialist for the Oregon Bariatric Center. She received a Medical Office Administration Certificate from Trend College and then joined PeaceHealth in 1995, handling various office and clinical responsibilities for family practice and dermatology in the Downtown Eugene clinic. 

Bridgette is much more than our first point of contact. She’s lived the life of the bariatric patient, having undergone successful gastric bypass in April 2004. She’s ready to share her experience with you.

 

Cindy Cooley
Patient Access Specialist


Cindy has been with PeaceHealth for 14 years as a Patient Access Specialist and Medical Office Assistant. She was most recently at the Barger facility, but she has worked at every clinic of PeaceHealth Medical Group and with every specialty and primary care practice. Cindy enjoys the daily challenge of continuous change and teamwork and makes a great addition to the Oregon Bariatric Center team.

 

Shari Lewis, CMA-C
Medical Assistant-Clinical


Shari has been in the medical field since 1972, for the most part assisting in plastic surgery with pre- and post-op care. She is nationally certified by the American Association of Medical Assistants and is a member of the Lane County Medical Assistants, having served as a past president. She is certified in CPR and Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Shari has been with PeaceHealth since 2003 and looks forward to working with our bariatric patients.
