Patient Information
Indications for exam:
Myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) is used to
quantitate blood flow to the heart muscle non-invasively. This study can be
done at rest and/or in conjunction with a stress test (either exercise treadmill
or pharmacological). It is particularly useful in evaluating patients with
either suspected or known coronary artery disease (CAD). The technique
utilized is dependent on symptoms, underlying medical conditions and current
weight.
Techniques used at Sacred Heart Medical Center
are:
-
Dual isotope using 201 TL and 99mTc
-
Two-day rest/stress using 99mTc on separate

-
Resting/viability using 201 TL
