Art PRN 2007 Invitation to Artists
 
PeaceHealth is seeking submissions of original artwork for display from late fall 2007 to summer 2008 in its two coffee shops: Espresso PRN, on the third floor of Sacred Heart Medical Center (1255 Hilyard Street) and Espresso PRN West, in the annex across from PeaceHealth Medical Group’s Downtown Clinic (1162 Willamette St.). Employees, volunteers and medical staff members are invited to submit images of their artwork for consideration. Artists in the community with a story of healing to tell are also encouraged to apply. Any original artwork that can be hung on the wall may be submitted. A jury will be looking for art that captures interest, lends meaning to the cycle of life and death, and helps make the hospital and clinic more welcoming and engaging places. (PRN is medical shorthand for “as needed.”)

Application Guidelines
Please visit either or both Espresso PRNs to get a sense of the space, the suitability of your work in that environment, and the size requirements. Espresso PRN has two 10-foot walls; one is floor to ceiling and one is above a counter. Espresso PRN West has one wall approximately 15 feet long. Complete the Application/Image List and submit it to Public Affairs along with:

  • A brief statement expressing your artistic vision and your reasons for wanting to display your work at the hospital or clinic.

  • Images of work you would like considered for display in Espresso PRN. Do not turn in original work! Digital images on CD are preferred, but slides or print images are acceptable. Please number the images to correspond to the image list. 

Artist Expectations
If your work is selected for display, you will be expected to:

  • Deliver the work submitted or work of similar style and quality on the specified date, framed or otherwise protected as necessary, ready to hang.

  • Provide an artist's statement and, if you are an employee or volunteer, a photo of yourself (snapshot OK). If artwork is for sale, all inquiries about sales will be referred to the artist to be handled privately.
