Strings of Compassion - Sacred Heart Medical Center

Strings of Compassion is a service at a patient's bedside in which harp and voice are used in a dynamic or "prescriptive" manner to lovingly assist the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of patients facing a life threatening illness, receiving comfort care, or on Hospice Care.

Sister Vivian plays the harp for a patient and family member.

This ministry recognizes that everyone in the family is experiencing grief, loss and change and desires to support the patient. In this setting, the music facilitates an atmosphere of compassionate care, beauty and reverence. The dynamic or "prescriptive" delivery  of the music has been found to assist with pain, anxiety, grief and unresolved issues and concerns in a way that is supportive, peaceful and non-invasive.
