Currently
the Oregon Heart & Vascular Institute facility is integrated
into Sacred Heart Medical Center on Hilyard Street in downtown
Eugene. By 2008 the institute will transition to the RiverBend
campus in nearby Springfield, where all services will be located
together and centered around a new five-story,
156,000-square-foot building. The structure will occupy a
prominent position separate from but adjacent to the main
hospital and will be identified by a signature clock tower. The
design of this facility was based on a desire to put the patient
and family at the center of care while providing the greatest
level of technology and efficiency for physicians and staff to
support healing and optimal clinical outcomes.
The first floor will include public services, patient
reception and registration, patient consultation rooms, a
patient and family resource library, administrative offices and
a state-of-the-art cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation center.
The second floor will house diagnostic cardiac and vascular
services, nuclear medicine services and administrative support
offices. The third level will house OHVI's cardiac
catheterization labs, peripheral vascular labs and an
electrophysiology lab as well as cardiovascular surgical suite,
patient- and family-friendly pre-procedure and recovery areas,
and confidential consultation rooms for physicians and families.
It will also have leased space for physician offices and space
preserved for future expansion.
Floors four and five will contain 72 single-occupancy patient
suites. These floors will be adjacent to the Intensive Care Unit
at Sacred Heart. Patients who have had cardiac surgery or a
vascular procedure that requires ICU care will be treated here.
