Only 3 Washington Hospitals Named to National “100 Best” List
Jamie Cleverley of Cleverley + Associates says “measurement in these three areas suggest that hospitals operating with a high degree of community value are those that are low cost, low charge, and use a strong financial position to reinvest back into the provision of care at the facility.” St. John Medical Center is one of only five Northwest hospitals to make the Top 100 list, which also includes Sacred Heart Medical Center in Eugene, Oregon. Both St. John and Sacred Heart are members of the Pacific Northwest-based PeaceHealth System. This is the fourth year that Cleverley + Associates has rated U.S. hospitals for their community value. “The CVI was created to provide an assessment of a hospital’s financial strength and reinvestment, cost of care, and pricing,” says Cleverley. “A large number of hospitals may perform well in one or two of the core areas of the CVI; however, those hospitals that are part of the Top 100 have achieved strong results in each of the three areas. The only other hospitals in Washington State on the Top 100 list are St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla and Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee. “We are pleased that our hard work at St. John has been recognized nationally,” says Scott Laubisch, Vice President of Business Development at St. John. “We are committed to providing our community the highest quality medical care in the best facilities, while keeping our costs under control.
