We understand the profound effect a cancer diagnosis has on the patient as well as the family. 

We are constantly and steadily growing and improving our services. Our caring staff, which includes a medical social worker, oncology nurses and patient care coordinator, work together with our physician team to address the physical and emotional needs of patients and families. An extensive Patient Resource Center provides current information regarding types of cancer, treatment options and resources for coping. 

 

Zafer Yildirim, MD, PhD, ABIM specializes in medical oncology and hematology.  He brings high quality, comprehensive cancer care to patients in the Lower Columbia Region. 

Dr. Yildirim is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Hematology/Oncology and Internal Medicine. His specialized training and background will serve the patients of the Lower Columbia Region well.

Dr. Yildirim has spent over 14 years completing his post-graduate studies at prestigious universities and medical schools throughout the United States:

  • PhD: 1990-1996

    Michigan State University College of Human Medicine/Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids, Michigan

Kim, C.R. MD, is certified by the American Board of Radiology, Radiation Oncology. 

Dr. Kim is the Medical Director of Radiation Oncology and the Radiation Safety Officer/Chairman of the Radiation Safety Committee at St. John Medical Center.  

He is also the Clinical Assistant Professor at the Department of Radiation Oncology at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, Oregon.

Dr. Kim received a number of honors and awards during his medical education, is certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners of the United States and holds medical licenses in the states of Washington, Oregon and Maryland. His medical education includes:

Dr. Kim is published in many professional journals and is invited to give presentations on the many facets of radiation oncology including prostate cancer, mastering cancer treatment for today's patients and the future of radiation therapy.

 

H. Julian Tran, Ph.D. is our Medical Physicist overseeing the quality assurance (QA) program for the linear accelerator treatment machines and patient specific QA for IMRT (Intensity Modulation Radiation Treatment). 
Dr. Tran finds applying his physics training to contribute to patient care quality and treatment outcome very satisfying and rewarding. 
  • He is being certified by the American Board of Radiology in Therapeutic Radiologic Physics
  • Member of the AAPM (American Association of Physicists in Medicine)
  • Ph.D. in Nuclear Physics from the University of British Columbia, Canada
  • Post graduate training in Medical Physics from Morristown Memorial Hospital, New Jersey.

He grew up in the Pacific Northwest and is thrilled to be able to start raising a family here.

 

Beverly Eaton, R.T. (T)/C.M.D.
Manager Radiation Oncology/Certified Medical Dosimetrist

She serves as the manager of Radiation Oncology as well as the Certified Medical Dosimetrist for Radiation Oncology.
Bev has spent her career developing a state of art Radiation Oncology facility. She is an experienced and knowledgeable medical dosimetrist implementing Intensity Modulated Radiation therapy for cancer patients in our community. In conjunction with Dr. CR Kim, Bev has been published in professional journals.
  • Began career at PeaceHealth in 1982
  • Attended the Swedish Tumor Institute School of Radiation Technology to obtain registry with the American Association of Registered Technologists (ARRT). 
  • Obtained certification in medical dosimetry through the University of Washington in 1998. 
  • Member of the American Association of Registered Technologists (ASRT)
  • Member of the American Association of Certified Medical Dosimetrists (AAMD)

 

Stephanie Roberts, BS, MPAS, PA-C, is a board certified Physician Assistant working at the Lower Columbia Regional Cancer Center.

She is originally from Ohio. She moved to the Pacific Northwest in 2004 to enjoy the lifestyle and outdoor activities of the region. 

Stephanie has worked in Oncology since becoming a PA and finds it a very rewarding field. She is also trained as a genetics educator and can work with patients regarding their cancer risk.

Barbara Hawkins, RN, MS, OCN serves as the Cancer Program Manager.  

She brings over 20 years of experience providing care for cancer patients and their families.

Barbara grew up as an “Army brat” living in many places from the Presidio at San Francisco to Heidelberg, Germany. She attended the University of Wisconsin and graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in Sociology and Psychology. Barbara completed her master’s degree in Medical Sociology by working with Viet Nam war amputees. After having four children, she went back to school and completed her RN degree. She found cancer nursing was her passion and continues to find joy working in this area. She has been an active member of the Oncology Nurse Society at the local and national levels and is an Oncology Certified Nurse. Barbara has oversight of the outpatient oncology clinic, infusion center and supportive services.

  

Karla Houk, RN, BSN, OCN is currently serving in the role of the Patient Care Coordinator.  

The role of the patient care Coordinator is to help, support and guide patients and families through the maze of issues they encounter during their cancer experience.

Karla is an experienced and knowledgeable oncology nurse and has functioned in a variety of capacities as an oncology nurse in her 20-year span of nursing.  Karla grew up in eastern Washington, graduated from Pacific Lutheran University with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing degree.  She is an Oncology Certified Nurse, Chemotherapy Certified Nurse and has served as an educator for the American Cancer Society.
