2006 Annual Report & Statistics

Cancer Data Management
Services is
the connecting link between the Cancer Committee, Cancer
Conference and the Patient Care Evaluation process, and provides
a resource for cancer data upon request. The registry staff is composed of
one Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) and one Registry Technician.
The majority of daily activities are focused on meeting the
requirements of the Commission on Cancer of the American College
of Surgeons for an approved cancer program through the following
activities:
- Data collection:
- 612 analytic cases and 28 non-analytic cases were
abstracted for the year 2006:
- Quality management of data
- Development and maintenance of registry policies and
procedures
- Statistical reporting
- Timelines in data reporting to NCDB* and WA State
- Initiation of TNM staging for all appropriate cases
- Successful 93% current follow-up rate of all analytic
patients from our reference date of 1975
- Successful 93% current follow-up rate for all analytic
patients within the last 5 years
- Provide data for patient care evaluation studies
Membership in the Washington and Oregon State Cancer
Registrar Associations and the National Cancer Registrar
Association provides the opportunity for keeping abreast of the
latest information related to the profession.
Committed to a quality cancer program, continuing education
of registry personnel is supported and encouraged by the St.
John Medical Center Administration.

The Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons
has granted its "Three-Year Approval with Commendation"
to the Lower Columbia Regional Cancer Center (LCRCC) at St. John
Medical Center.
